End-Grain

End-grain' is what we see when we cut down
a tree and look at the age rings in the stump.
All the fibers are standing up which makes
the board resistant to cut marks and saves
your expensive knives from dulling
prematurely. It is more labour intensive than
an edge grain or face grain board when the
fibers are laying flat and are scared by the
knife.
